Who did Babatunde Aleshe play in EastEnders? I'm A Celebrity star's acting career exposed

I'm A Celebrity 's Babatunde Aleshe is well known for his comedy, but some viewers may be surprised to know he is also an actor - having had roles in EastEnders, Doctor Who and Law & Order: UK.

The Celebrity Gogglebox star has appeared in plenty of other roles too, some years before his jungle stint.

Babatunde shares something in common with his co-stars Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner and Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver, in that he has appeared in a soap too.

Not only that, but the hilarious campmate has appeared in a number of roles since 2009.

On his list of credentials according to IMDB, Babatunde has appeared in short films, as well as Law & Order: UK, New Tricks, Frankie, The Stand Up Sketch Show and Waking the Dead.

In 2010, Babatunde played a character called Sean in BBC's Doctor Who alongside Karen Gillan, Matt Smith and James Corden.

In the episode, The Lodger, the comedian portrayed a footballer who played a match alongside the Doctor.

A year later, Babatunde starred in EastEnders as a nurse named Sam, in scenes with Tanya Branning.

Nurse Sam supported Tanya when she first began her chemotherapy, after her cancer diagnosis.

Sam reappeared a few weeks on from this, and broke the news that a friend of Tanya's had passed away, while he also appeared in a scene with Lauren Branning.

Meanwhile, the star was left gutted on Sunday night as his close pal Scarlette Douglas was the second star to be eliminated from the series.

As she joined hosts Ant and Dec, she admitted she was gutted to be leaving so soon, as others were keen to go.

She explained she wanted to keep herself busy as she was a "team player" and was desperate to get "stuck in".

There was no exit on Saturday night, while Friday's episode saw the first elimination of the series with Charlene White being first to go.

Following her exit, Charlene explained how Matt Hancock going into the jungle ruined it for her - as she was always concerned about her impartiality as a journalist as that is her primary job.

She told The Mirror and other press: "Being there and having a laugh and having a joke – that kind of finished when Matt came. Because I have interviewed enough of the families who have lost loved ones during the pandemic.

"I am one of those. As soon as he walked in I thought ‘I’m going to be walking a tightrope here.'

"If I don’t think about them and ask the questions they want to know regarding his reasoning for going into the jungle when we are in the middle of the inquiry into the reaction after the pandemic... then I’m not doing my job.

"It went from me just having a laugh to constantly worrying... whether I would still be taken seriously when it comes to dealing with politicians."

I'm A Celebrity airs every night at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
