Who will Tottenham draw in Champions League last-16? PSG and other possible knockout stage opponents today

Tottenham only just made it through to the Champions League last-16 as group winners.

After all the VAR chaos that erupted at the death in their contentious draw with Sporting a week earlier, Spurs were left needing at least a draw on matchday six away in Marseille and with manager Antonio Conte up in the stands as he served a touchline ban.

The 2019 finalists fell behind on a dramatic night at the Stade Velodrome, only to come back to win courtesy of goals from Clement Lenglet and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, the latter with the last kick of the game deep into injury time.

With Spurs’ place in the knockout rounds now assured, here’s who they could play next...

Who could Tottenham face in Champions League last-16?

As eventual winners of Group D, Spurs’ last-16 opponents will be drawn from one of six teams who finished as runners-up in their own section.

That number excludes both Liverpool and Eintracht Frankfurt, the respective runners-up from Groups A and D, as at this stage of the competition teams cannot face sides either from their own group or countries.

But they can still face some true powerhouses such as Paris Saint-Germain or both Milan clubs, while Dortmund and Leipzig lurk as difficult tests from the Bundesliga.

Club Brugge may offer the most straightforward path to the quarter-finals, though the Belgians will no doubt be relishing their status as underdogs after beating Bayer Leverkusen and Atletico Madrid to second spot in Group B.

Tottenham’s possible last-16 opponents: PSG, Inter Milan, AC Milan, RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Club Brugge.

When is the Champions League last-16 draw?

The House of European Football - situated at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland - will host the draw for the Champions League last-16 round.

The ceremony will start at 11am GMT on Monday, November 7, 2022.
