Chelsea are through to their third straight Champions League quarter-final after overcoming a first-leg one goal deficit to knock Borussia Dortmund out of the competition. In what was dubbed Graham Potter’s biggest match as Chelsea manager, his side secured the vital victory at Stamford Bridge.
Focus now turns to who Chelsea could face in the quarter-finals as this season’s European journey continues. The last-eight is where Europe’s biggest club competition becomes really interesting, as many of the continent’s powerhouses clash in spectacular fashion.
This was the stage Thomas Tuchel’s side reached last season, as the holders were beaten by eventual winners Real Madrid 5-4 after extra-time. Excitement can now begin to grip west London about a potential repeat of the 2020/21 campaign, when they beat Manchester City to claim the ultimate crown.

The Blues were in the first block of round-of-16 fixtures, meaning they became one of the first of two to reach the next stage. This was alongside Benfica, who demolished Club Brugge 7-1 on aggregate.
The next two ties took place the following day, and saw Bayern Munich and AC Milan keep hold of first-leg advantages against PSG and Tottenham Hotspur respectively. On Tuesday evening Manchester City demolished RB Leipzig 7-0 at the Etihad Stadium (8-1 on aggregate) as Erling Haaland broke a number of records with his five-goal haul, while Inter Milan shut FC Porto out to get through to the next round.
With that said, these are Chelsea’s potential quarter-final opponents, with the score in brackets being the outcome from the first-leg, when the draw takes place on Friday, March 17.

At this point in the tournament, there are no longer any seeds, while teams from the same country can now face each other. Similarly, sides who competed in the same group can now face off, something they were prohibited from doing in the round-of-16.
