Who are the favourites to win the World Cup? Brazil, Argentina, England and France all in the mix

The 2022 World Cup is well and truly under way.

A number of the pre-tournament favourites have already played, with England starting in emphatic fashion with a 6-2 triumph over Iran, while Argentina stumbled at the first hurdle with a 2-1 defeat by Saudi Arabia.

France, the current holders of the World Cup after their 2018 triumph, are near the top of the bookmakers' odds lists, while five-time winners Brazil are invariably up near the summit when it comes to the fancied teams.

As for Wales, well, you can get odds of around 175/1 for them to win the tournament after their 1-1 draw with the USA in their opening game on Monday evening.

Qatar are the rank outsiders to win the whole thing, with odds as long as 1000/1 being offered for the hosts to raise the trophy on December 18. Costa Rica (750/1), Australia (500/1) and Iran (500/1) are the other teams right near the bottom of the pile.
