Everton have held preliminary talks with a US consortium over a potential takeover, according to a Bloomberg report.
The special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) is led by Los Angeles-based producers Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman, while the vehicle which they will invest through - LAMF Global Ventures Corp - lists former Everton director Keith Harris as a special advisor.
The group are reportedly targeting investment in European football with the Premier League an obvious opportunity - especially given the recent influx of American investment and influence in the competition. But talks between the two parties are said to remain in their infancy. Everton have been approached for comment.

Soros and Horsman created the Los Angeles Media Fund (LAMF) in 2012, which on its own website is described as a 'multi-faceted entertainment company with a primary focus on the development, financing, and production of features, documentaries and television'. The pair have also branched out to found Invent TV and Beyond Athlete Management - a sports agency that represents several NBA and NFL players.
Horsman has a long history as a lawyer in California and the UK, with over 25 years experience representing media and technology companies, and has since joined Soros in their pursuit of film and media financing. Soros is the nephew of hedge fund tycoon George Soros, who rose to prominence in 1992 when he 'broke the Bank of England' by shorting the pound and making $1billion.
Harris may be slightly better known among Everton fans, with the London-based investment banker appointed onto the Blues' board in 2016 - a position he left in 2019. Harris has been involved in several takeovers and attempted takeovers - including of West Ham United, Manchester City and Aston Villa.
