A Whitley Bay fish and chip shop has landed an award after mystery diners judged it to be one of the best in the UK.
Fisherman's Bay, on the seafront in Whitley Bay, has been named as one of the best in The UK's Best Fish & Chip Restaurants 2022/23 awards, which judges chippies all around the country using mystery judges, who go into premises unannounced and secretly scrutinise the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the shop, staff knowledge, value for money, ease of ordering and social media presence.
The awards, in their 11th year, announces the 50 best takeaways and the 10 best restaurants. The Mary Lambert, in Hartlepool, was also listed in the top 10 restaurants.
