Whitley Bay convicted arsonist left innocent mum terrified in case of mistaken identity

A mum in her garden with her three-year-old daughter was left in fear after being targeted by an armed yob in a case of mistaken identity.

Convicted arsonist Jeffrey Walker had not long been released from prison for setting his girlfriend on fire when he approached the victim in her garden in Wallsend, believing she was someone else, and shouted and swore at her.

Newcastle Crown Court heard the woman called police and when they arrested him he was in possession of a bottle of ammonia. Walker, 36, pleaded guilty to a public order offence, having an offensive weapon and also damaging a mattress at the police station and failing to turn up to court.
