A white van driver has become the latest person to be shamed for fly-tipping by Liverpool Council.
The city council has been taking a robust approach to outing those who choose to dump items around the city in recent weeks. The local authority is keen to show that it will target fly-tippers and fine them in a bid to stop dumping in Liverpool.
In its latest post, the city council has shared an image of a group of men gathered around the back of a white van that is parked up at a junction. The men can be seen in the process of dumping an old mattress illegally.

A sassy post that has become the recent hallmark of the council's Twitter account said: "Dear white van driver, how many people helped you to fly-tip this mattress? Four? You may want to ask them to share the £400 fine heading your way. "
The post added: "Shame nobody suggested going to nearby Otterspool Recycling Centre. It's free. Yours, #Liverpool City Council #KeepLiverpoolTidy."
It is the latest in a recent run of shaming posts from the council as it attempts to clamp down on fly-tipping in the city. Yesterday the local authority shared an image of a different car that was also dumping mattresses at the side of a road.
Alongside that image, the council tweeted: "A night out in the city centre can cost a few bob. But not as costly as fly tipping a mattress. Today we'll identify this car owner and then send a letter. The fine? £400 more than going the tip (free). Could have a boss night out with that and change for a tip."
On Monday, the local authority shared an image of two men dumping furniture in the Kirkdale area from the back of a van. The post with the image said: "Hi guys, not sure why you didn't drive another 10 mins to take this bathroom furniture to Otterspool Recycling Centre? If you did, we wouldn't now be looking at taking your van. Expect a fly-tipping letter shortly. Yours, Liverpool City Council."
Speaking about the council's increasingly robust approach to fly-tipping, Cllr Liam Robinson, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, said: “It’s a big bugbear of mine and I know everyone hates to see any fly-tipping but thanks to investment in CCTV the city council is now able to pursue this individual.
"Under our new Keep Liverpool Tidy programme there’s a renewed focus on fly-tipping and I would suggest people really need to ask themselves, is a £400 fine worth the hassle? And that could rise even higher depending on the case. The city council provides bulky waste collections and have recycling centres for big items. All I would say is use them. They are free.”
People in Liverpool can report fly-tipping, which includes the dumping of old sofas or mattresses, chemical drums, tyres, and bags of rubbish, on the council website.
