White supremacist with Nazi dagger belonged to banned group seeking race war

A man found in possession of flags depicting a Swastika and the logo of the SS has been jailed for offences under the Terrorism Act. Officers raided the defendant's home in Cardiff and found documents containing instructions on how to make explosives and poisons.

Luca Benincasa was also found in possession of a Nazi dagger and an SS officer's hat and uniform along with various flags including a fascist Italian flag and a Swastika armband. The items were discovered when officers from Counter Terrorism Policing Wales raided his Whitchurch home in January last year. Also found were items of camouflage clothing, a tactical vest and masks. Officers seized was his laptop with contained banned materials including documents related to extreme right wing propaganda.

Benincasa previously pleaded guilty to being a member of outlawed group Feuerkrieg Division. He also pleaded guilty to four counts of collecting information likely to be useful to a terrorist. The defendant became the first person to be convicted of belonging to the group, which is said to promote violence and mass murder in pursuit of a race war, and was a “prominent member”. The group, which primarily exists online, was banned in July 2020.
