CHICAGO — Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa missed Tuesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals at the direction of his doctors. The team announced the news before the series opener at Guaranteed Rate Field.
La Russa, 77, is scheduled to undergo further medical testing Wednesday in Chicago.
The Sox anticipate an update on La Russa’s status before Wednesday’s game against the Royals.
Bench coach Miguel Cairo will manage the Sox in La Russa’s absence.
