Nottinghamshire's White Post Farm has welcomed a baby armadillo as one of its latest additions to the zoo. The seven week old baby armadillo is the first exotic mammal that has been bred and reared by the exotics team at White Post Farm, in Farnsfield.
The site recently became a zoo with a number of ‘amazing’ new animals as a part of a new exotic exhibition, Reptiles of the World. White Post Farm is now appealing for people to help name the baby armadillo which was born on May 12.
Marketing Manager Anthony Moore said: “It’s obviously a very important animal for us, we’ve recently become a zoo, which means there’s lots and lots of exotics now at the farm.

“This is the first time that the exotics team have bred and reared an exotic mammal so they’ve done an amazing job, they’re really pleased. They’ve had to keep it under wraps for a while to make sure it was 100 per cent healthy and were monitoring it regularly.
“They’re now at a state where they’re happy with its progress, happy that it’s nice and strong and healthy, so it was announced two days ago.”
Visitors can suggest names for the latest arrival on the White Post Farm Facebook page where the team are checking the comments everyday for names.
He added :“The best place is on the original Facebook, flooding the comments checking them everyday. It’s as soon as the exotics team falls in love with a name that really suits her personality.
“It’s a really hard thing to do, to breed and rear one of these armadillos. We’re very proud of the exotic team for doing such a good job. She’s nice and strong now, she’s eating really well.”
