The White House has decided to withhold judgment on Israel's investigation into the strike that resulted in the deaths of aid workers from World Central Kitchen (WCK) in Gaza. The National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, stated on Friday that they will carefully review the report before forming an opinion. Kirby mentioned that they will assess the findings and conclusions of the investigation before making any definitive statements.
Israel recently released an internal report that led to the dismissal of two military officers. The report cited 'mistaken identification' and 'errors in decision-making' as factors that contributed to the tragic attack on the WCK staff in Gaza earlier this week.
During a phone call between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Netanyahu on Thursday, Biden encouraged Netanyahu to participate in hostage deal negotiations in Cairo over the weekend. The United States will also be part of these discussions in Cairo, as confirmed by Kirby in an interview with ABC.
Kirby emphasized that President Biden's primary goal remains securing an immediate ceasefire in exchange for the release of hostages and the provision of additional aid. Negotiators are set to convene in Cairo to address these critical issues over the weekend.
