Putin apologises after suspected Russian involvement in Azerbaijan Airlines crash that killed 38

Vladimir Putin has apologised to Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev for a “tragic accident” after 38 people died when a passenger plane crashed in Kazakhstan on Wednesday.

Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243 went down near the city of Aktau after diverting from southern Russia where Ukrainian drones were reported to be attacking several cities. At least 38 people were killed while 29 survived.
