The White House has said that “we’ve never been closer to a peace deal” in Ukraine as Donald Trump prepares for crunch talks with Vladimir Putin.

The US and Russian Presidents are expected to speak about ending the Ukraine war on Tuesday, with territorial concessions by Kyiv and control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant likely to feature prominently in the talks.
