The annual royal garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse takes place today (June 29).
Traditionally, every summer the Queen hosts a number of garden parties at Buckingham Palace, as well as one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
The Edinburgh garden party forms part of the celebrations for Holyrood Week, also known as Royal Week.
The annual celebration sees the monarch and other members of the royal family visiting regions throughout Scotland to celebrate Scottish culture.
The final Royal garden party of the year will recognise people who have made significant contributions to Scottish communities.
Here’s what we know about which members of the royal family will be in attendance at today’s prestigious event.
Will the Queen be attending the Palace of Holyroodhouse garden party?
Earlier this year, the Palace announced that while the Queen’s royal garden parties would still go ahead this year, the monarch would not be attending them herself.
The Queen has recently been experiencing mobility issues that have caused her to cancel her attendance at a number of events this year including at the State Opening of Parliament and her Service of Thanksgiving for her Platinum Jubilee.
At her annual garden parties, the Queen is usually required to stand and walk for over an hour as she greets guests and it’s believed that the 96-year-old would currently struggle to do this.
Although she’s not expected to attend the Palace of Holyroodhouse party, the Queen is currently residing at the Edinburgh palace.
Earlier this week the Monarch made an unexpected visit to Scotland as she arrived on Monday to take part in the annual Holyrood Week celebrations.
In her first public appearance since the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, her Majesty participated in the traditional Ceremony of the Keys.
It’s expected that the Queen will remain in residence at the Palace of Holyroodhouse until July 1 but there has been no announcement that she will make an appearance at today’s garden party.
Which royals will be at the Palace of Holyroodhouse garden party?
While the parties are usually hosted by the Queen, this year other family members will step in for her.
A statement from the Palace said: “Her Majesty The Queen will be represented by other Members of the Royal Family at this year’s Garden Parties, with details on attendance to be confirmed in due course.”
The first garden party this year was hosted by Charles and Camilla, the second one was hosted by Kate Middleton, and the last of the Buckingham Palace parties was hosted by both Prince William and Kate.
As she travelled to Scotland earlier this week, the Queen was accompanied by her youngest son Prince Edward and his wife Sophie.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex, who are known as the Earl and Countess of Forfar while in Scotland, are expected to attend today’s party and have already been in attendance at several of the garden parties this year.
Prince Charles, Camilla and Princess Anne are also expected to attend today’s garden party.
During the party, the royals will recognise the people who have made positive contributions to communities in Scotland.
