It’s been a long time since the Detroit Lions made the postseason. Despite the seven-year playoff drought, there are still several current Lions players with some postseason experience.
Only two current Lions were on the team when last Detroit made the postseason. Left tackle Taylor Decker and right guard Graham Glasgow started in the wild-card loss to the Saints after the 2016 season.
Several other Lions do have some playoff notches in their belts.
Jared Goff
Obviously, the most prominent Lions playoff experience comes from quarterback Jared Goff. During his time with the Rams, Goff played in six postseason games over three seasons (2017-2018 and 2020), starting five of them. Ironically, his best playoff start was his last one, a 32-18 loss to the Packers in the 2020 NFC divisional round that turned out to be his last appearance in a Rams uniform. Goff has thrown for four TD passes, two INTs and a 57 percent completion rate in the six games.
Josh Reynolds
Lions WR Josh Reynolds was with Goff for all those same games with the Rams. Reynolds caught 11 passes for 186 yards and also manged 25 rushing yards in the six games.
Kalif Raymond
Wideout Kalif Raymond has three games of experience from his time with the Titans. Raymond barely played, logging just 16 offensive snaps and snagging one reception — a 45-yard touchdown in a divisional-round win over the Ravens in 2020.
Donovan Peoples-Jones
Fellow receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones caught two passes in two playoff games for the Cleveland Browns in 2020.
David Montgomery
Running back David Montgomery played in one postseason game for the Bears. He rushed 12 times for 31 yards in a wild-card loss to the Saints in 2020, a week before Goff and the Rams beat the Saints (with Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn on the staff) in a game with a highly controversial finish.
Teddy Bridgewater
Backup QB Teddy Bridgewater has been with teams for seven career playoff games, but he only played in one of them. After the 2015 season, Bridgewater started a 10-9 wild card loss by the Vikings to the Seahawks in a dreadful game that barely cracked 400 combined offensive yards.
Alex Anzalone
Linebacker Alex Anzalone started four playoff games for the Saints in two seasons. he was on injured reserve for two other New Orleans postseason runs. One of those starts came in the playoff game Montgomery lost with Chicago.
Cam Sutton
Cam Sutton saw action in three postseason games with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He only played special teams in his first one, then started in games after the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The Steelers lost all three games.
Romeo Okwara
Romeo Okwara dipped his toe in the playoffs after the 2016 season with the New York Giants. Okwara bagged a sack of Aaron Rodgers in the Giants’ 38-13 loss in Green Bay.
Kindle Vildor
If you’re looking to stump your friends with one, it’s probably CB Kindle Vildor. He started the aforementioned Bears playoff loss to the Saints and recorded seven tackles.
Jake McQuaide
Long snapper Jake McQuaide notched seven playoff games. He was part of the Rams for the same six as Goff and Reynolds, plus one more with Dallas after the 2021 season.
Michael Badgley
Kicker Michael Badgley played in two postseason games for the Chargers after the 2019 season. He made five FGs in one of those games, a 23-17 road win over the Ravens.
