With the Indianapolis Colts on their bye week, let’s take a look ahead to the 2025 offseason, specifically, which players are currently set to hit free agency.
With still four games remaining in this season, obviously, a lot can change, but with the growth that we’ve seen from Anthony Richardson in recent weeks, this pending offseason will be crucial when it comes to getting the Colts from a fringe playoff team–which they’ve been the last two years–to making that be the expectation and not just a hope.
The Colts are currently set to have $49.765 million in available cap space in 2025, according to Over the Cap. League-wide, this ranks as the 16th-most next offseason.
We all know that GM Chris Ballard has prioritized re-signing his own players, so if that trend continues, a number of these players may return for 2026. But that faith in his roster has also left some position groups short-handed.
Let’s begin with a look at which current Colts players are set to be unrestricted free agents this offseason. An unrestricted free agent is able to negotiate and sign wherever they please.
C Ryan Kelly
TE Mo Alie-Cox
QB Joe Flacco
LB EJ Speed
S Julian Blackmon
WR Ashton Dulin
DT Taven Bryan
DE Dayo Odeyingbo
S Ronnie Harrison
C/G Danny Pinter
CB Chris Lammons
RB Trey Sermon
TE Kylen Granson
QB Sam Ehlinger
G Will Fries
LB Grant Stuard
WR Laquon Treadwell
Now, here are the players who will be restricted free agents (RFA). A restricted free agent has three years of accrued NFL seasons. The team can choose to place one of three tenders on a RFA (first round tender, second round, or right of first refusal), at which point, the player can negotiate with other teams.
However, if they receive an offer, the current team has the right to match and if they choose not to, in return for that player leaving, the original team receives compensation in the form of which tender was utilized.
If a tender is placed, depending on which one is selected, a pre-determined contract amount is set for that player. If the player doesn’t receive a tender, they become an unrestricted free agent.
WR DJ Montgomery
G Josh Sills
C Wesley French
S Trevor Denbow
LB Cameron McGrone
Lastly, are the exclusive rights free agents (ERFA) who have fewer than three accrued NFL seasons. While the name has the term ‘free agent’ in it, these players are not able to negotiate with other teams unless the current teams decides to not re-sign them.
RB Tyler Goodson
