There will be a few options for where you can watch the coronation of King Charles III in Manchester and Greater Manchester, from large gatherings in town to local community screenings of the royal event.
Piccadilly Gardens
The city’s biggest communal gathering to watch the Coronation will take place in Piccadilly Gardens, which has been decked out to beam in all the pageantry from Westminster Abbey on Saturday (May 6).
Big screens have been erected to show the live coverage from the BBC, with some carnival atmosphere thrown in too.

The screening is completely free of charge and there will be food stalls, ‘Coronation treats and tipples’ and face painting. There will also be a traditional procession following the ceremony, with the platforms set up staying open into the night for drinks and festivities.
Then the following day, the Gardens will be transformed into a picnic space for the Coronation Big Lunch, with tables, benches, more food traders, and then the Coronation Concert in the evening being streamed from London onto the big screens.
Manchester Cathedral
If you can’t make it to Westminster Abbey (or for some reason have misplaced your invitation), then surely Manchester Cathedral is a fine substitute. Watch the crowning of King Charles III in this historic place of worship, from the Coronation ceremony itself through to the new King’s Procession.
The doors open at 9.30am on Saturday (May 6), just after morning prayers, and it’s completely free of charge.
Parliament Square, Oldham
Oldham’s Parliament Square will be the place to watch the Coronation ceremony live, all part of the Oldham Coronation Festival. It’s all free, and there’s no booking required.
The festival will find the town centre transformed, with a music stage featuring Madness, Queen, Beatles and Dua Lipa tribute bands, plus stalls with food and drink. You can find more details here…
Bolton’s Library and Museum Lecture Theatre
If you’re over in Bolton, you can head to Bolton’s Library and Museum Lecture Theatre to watch the Coronation ceremony and procession. As well as the screening, there will be Coronation arts and crafts and a silent disco.

Sale Waterside
Over in Trafford, the Coronation ceremony will be shown on screens set up in the Sale Waterside arts centre, with access from 10.30am to the Robert Bolt Theatre for an 11am start.
There's an 'Coronation Package' available too, for £12, which includes prosecco, an individual ice cream tub and some cake. General admission is free, and you can book tickets here...
