Where you can join hundreds in leaving a lasting tribute to the Queen in Newcastle

Hundreds of people have left heartfelt tributes to the Queen in Newcastle.

Mourners have visited Newcastle Civic Centre and Newcastle City Library to sign two Books of Condolences as they pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Newcastle City Council has confirmed that more than 400 people have signed the civic books which will remain open to the public until the day after the state funeral on Monday.

People will be able to leave a lasting tribute to the Queen and read the other messages in the books until 4.30pm on Tuesday, September 20. However, an online Book of Condolence will be available to sign on the Royal Family's official website for those unable to attend in person.

A Newcastle City Council spokeswoman said: “There are two civic books of condolence open in Newcastle at the Civic Centre and the City Library, although there are others open across the city, including those in Tyne and Wear Archives and Museums venues and places of worship.

"We are also encouraging people to sign the e-book of condolence on the Royal Family's official website if this is more appropriate."

Details of opening times at the Civic Centre and City Library can be found here.
