A year after its launch in China, the free-to-play Wuxia RPG Where Winds Meet is now available globally on PC and PlayStation 5. The game achieved immediate success, peaking at just under 200,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, many mobile players feel left behind, as the game is still not available on phones worldwide. If you’re one of them, here’s what we know about the Where Winds Meet mobile release date, as well as cross-progression and cross-play.
Is Where Winds Meet Coming To Mobile Globally?
Yes, it has been confirmed that the game will launch on smartphones globally. In China, the game is already available on mobile platforms, where it was launched on Android and iOS on December 31st, 2024. The game became available on mobile just 4 days after the PC release in China, so many global players expect something similar for the global release.
Where Winds Meet Mobile Global Release Date – Is It Confirmed?
Unfortunately, we will have to disappoint you here. While it has been confirmed that the game will release globaly on mobile as well, there hasn't yet been any offical release date communicated by the developers. If you try to look for the game on Google Play Store, for example, you will only find that the game is "coming soon" with no further details.
And although there’s no concrete launch date yet, that won’t stop us from speculating. Our best guess is that the mobile version will release globally sometime around the New Year, roughly a year after the Chinese mobile launch. This will give the developers enough time to iron things out on PS5 and PC while preparing for the mobile global launch.
Where Winds Meet Cross-Progression & Cross-Play Explained
The good news for mobile players is that Where Winds Meet fully supports cross-progression and cross-play. What does that mean in practice if you’re planning to play on your phone? It means that once the game launches on mobile, you’ll be able to switch seamlessly between platforms, with all your characters and progress waiting for you exactly where you left off. Here's how it works.
- Cross-progression - All your characters, gear, purchases, Battle Pass progress - everything - will be available no matter where you play: PC, PS5, or mobile.
- Cross-save - Your current position in the world isn’t saved locally, but in the cloud. This means you can exit the game on PC, open it on mobile, and continue playing from the exact same position where you left off.
- Cross-play - When it comes to the multiplayer portion of the game (such as PvP arenas, raids, and co-op play), you won’t be limited to your platform. Instead, you can play against (and alongside) players from all platforms, no matter where you choose to play.
For now, that's all we know about the Where Winds Meet mobile global release. We truly hope that the developers will release the game on our phones by the end of next year, and as soon as we learn more details about the exact date, we will make sure to update our article.
