When the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Philip passed away last April, it was confirmed he would not be buried until the Queen's own death.
After the news of the monarch's death on Thursday, September 8, there are already a number of plans in place for her funeral.
Although the date has yet to be confirmed by Buckingham Palace, new monarch King Charles has declared a 17-day mourning period for the Royal Family.
Plans started to be put in place for the Queen's burial after the Duke of Edinburgh's death, which stated that they would be buried together.
Now that the Queen has died, they will both be laid to rest alongside her parents, George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, as well as The Queen’s sister Margaret, who died in 2002.
Where will the Queen be buried?
After the funeral service, which will take place at Westminster Abbey, the Queen will be laid to rest with her husband.
They will be buried at the King George VI Memorial Chapel within St George’s, where many other royals and previous monarchs have been laid to rest.
Since his death last year, the Duke of Edinburgh's body has been kept in the Royal Vault within St George's Chapel. The Vault is around 200 years old, and the first royal to be buried there was Princess Amelia in 1810.
It's now understood that he will be moved to the chapel to be buried alongside his beloved wife.
Who else has been buried in the Royal Vault?
Apart from Prince Philip, there are currently 24 other royals buried at the Royal Vault.
These include Prince Edward, father of Queen Victoria, two of George III''s sons Prince Alfred and Prince Octavius, and mother of Queen Mary Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck.
The last royal to be laid to rest there was Princess Alice, who was Prince Philip's mother, in 1969.
However, her tomb was moved to Jerusalem, as she wished to be buried with her aunt Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fyodorovna.
Will the funeral be on TV?
It's understood that television cameras will be allowed inside the Abbey so that the funeral can be broadcast on live TV. During the funeral, a national two-minute silence will be observed all over the UK as a mark of respect.
All senior members of the Royal Family are likely to be in attendance, as well as their children.
After the funeral service, the Queen's coffin will be taken to St George's Chapel, and a private funeral service for family members will take place.
Then, arrangements will be made for the Duke of Edinburgh's coffin to be moved to rest with the Queen.
