The Matildas' hopes of taking out the FIFA Women's World Cup grand final may have been dashed by their defeat at the hands of England last week, but the history-making national side is still firmly in the competition as they take on Sweden on Saturday, August 19, in the battle for third place.
About 2000 fans converged on Wheeler Place last week as the Matildas defeated France in a nail-biting World Cup quarter final.
Wheeler Place will once again broadcast the Matildas games on the big screen beginning at 5pm for a 6pm kick-off. Maitland will similarly host a live site at the Maitland Regional Showground from 6pm.
While there won't be many pubs or clubs around town without at least a screen showing the match, here's a list of venues promoting the event.
