Troilite is one of the rarer late-game minerals in Subnautica 2, and you’ll need plenty of it once you start crafting advanced vehicle upgrades and high-tier base components.
You can find Troilite in the deeper late-game biomes around the Metal Farm zone, most commonly around the Metal Farm region and other high-depth areas below 450 meters. While the game’s latest update added more spawn locations across deeper regions, the resource is still easy to miss if you do not know where to look. Here’s where to exactly find Troilite and the fastest way to farm it in Subnautica 2.
Where to find Troilite in Subnautica 2, explained
The easiest confirmed farming route is heading toward the glowing green pool area near the Root Canyon biome. You can find it near Alien Ruins Research Base. This zone has several Troilite deposits scattered around the cave walls and floor, often appearing as dark mineral nodes with green glowing streaks.
Bring the Tadpole with the Depth Module to 450m, and then you can jump from it to use your Sonic Resonator and farm these precious materials. We recommend using a Wavemaker, as it gives you access to the flashlight, which makes it easy to spot it.
Beware of the Epicurean and Tongue Thief crabs while farming Troilite, as both can deal heavy damage if you get too close. Stick close to the ocean floor and avoid swimming upward into open water, since a Collector Leviator patrols the upper part of the biome and can quickly spot and attack you.
After Hotfix 2, more Troilite nodes were added across late-game regions, making the resource easier to farm than it was at launch. If you are not spotting enough, keep pushing deeper into newly accessible areas after upgrading your Tadpole.
How to use Troilite in Subnautica 2
Troilite is used to craft several important late-game upgrades and materials in Subnautica 2.
At the Fabricator, you can use it to craft the Entangled Power Cell and Ultra High Capacity Air Tank. The Entangled Power Cell gives your Tadpole more power, while the other increases your oxygen capacity to 120 for longer dives.
Troilite is also required for the Photovoltaic Charger and Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2 mods at the Modification station. The charger improves passive power generation while using it on the surface waters, and the Depth Module Mk. 2 lets the Tadpole dive deeper into late-game zones. You can also process Troilite into a Mangalloy Ingot using the Processor, which can be used for advanced builds like the Metal Farm and other high-tier construction recipes.
If you only have a small amount, use it first for the Tadpole Depth Module upgrade on your vehicle, since it unlocks access to deeper regions where you can farm more Troilite near the Metal Farms biome.
