The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's paraglider returns in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but the way you get it is a bit different than last time.
After six long years The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally here (and it seems like it's a banger, getting a 5 Star rating from us at Mirror Gaming). As a direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild obviously you'd expect Link to have some of the same tricks up his sleeve, including the iconic Paraglider which pushed exploration to the next level.
In Zelda: Breath of the Wild you get the Paraglider from the Old Man at the end of Great Plateau section after conquering three shrines. After completing a similar section at the start of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom you would expect your new companion Rauru to follow suit and give you one – especially given Zelda: Tears of the Kingdoms expanded focus on sky traversal – but sadly that isn't the case, as Link just throws caution to the wind and launches himself off of the island with no Paraglider.
So where exactly is the Paraglider? We know it's in the game thanks to trailers and the game's amiibo functionality. Don't worry too much as you won't have to wait for long before you can stop taking fall damage and dying every five minutes.
Where to find the Paraglider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Okay, so you've conquered the Great Sky Island and launched yourself down to the lands below (hopefully not splatting yourself on the ground instantly like I did and ruining the triumphant moment). You'll have a yellow marker on your map directing you to a nearby village.
This village is home to Hyrule's Investigation Team led by none other than Purah from Zelda: Breath of the Wild who has managed to undo the anti-aging spell which shrunk her before. Purah will send you to report what happened to you and Zelda underneath Hyrule Castle to the head of the team, sending you around a dark dingy cliff. Once again, just follow the yellow marker, it'll keep you right.
Once you've met with the leader, he'll once again send you back to report to Purah who goes off to set up a watchtower for Link to scope out the map. Unlike the towers from Breath of the Wild, these towers shoot you out like a canon, so going up there without a way to float back down would mean certain death right?
Luckily Purah has just the device to help you not go splat – a fancy new Paraglider – congrats, it's yours to keep and you can now float around Hyrule at your leisure.
