Shameless had a devoted legion of fans when it first debuted on Channel 4 in 2003 and quickly became a household name in British comedy.
The critically-acclaimed show, which starred David Threlfall as Mancunian patriarch Frank Gallagher, came to an end in 2013 after running for 11 seasons.
For stars, including James McAvoy, Anne-Marie Duff and Maxine Peake, it launched their careers.
It is beloved by fans young and old after it became available to stream on Netflix and even had a US spin-off, starring William H Macy and Emmy Rossum.
Almost a decade after it first aired, we take a look at where the cast are now…
David Threlfall (Frank Gallagher)
The talented thespian portrayed the bedraggled dad in the Channel 4 show.
He was best known for his drunken rants and his unwavering affection for his troublesome family.
The actor has performed in plays, such as Oedipus, Macbeth, and Don Quixote.
The 68-year-old has also starred in big-screen movies - including Hot Fuzz, alongside Simon Pegg, Elizabeth: The Golden Age with Cate Blanchett, and Master and Commander with Russell Crowe.
David also carved out a career as a TV acting icon, and has appeared in shows such as Ripper Street, Troy: Fall of a City, and Code of a Killer.
He shares two children with Bosnian-British actress Brana Bajic and is the voice of Flop in CBeebies series Bing.
Anne-Marie Duff (Fiona McBride)
The actress played eldest sibling Fiona in the show, as she served as the family’s matriarch after their mother Monica left dad Frank.
She left the show in 2005, and her career has gone from strength to strength.
The BAFTA-nominated star starred in the critically-acclaimed biopic Nowhere Boy as Julia Lennon, the mum of musician John Lennon,
She also played Queen Elizabeth in the BBC adaptation of the novel The Virgin Queen, alongside Tom Hardy as her lover Robert Dudley.
Anne-Marie has carved out an illustrious career on the small screen, starring in His Dark Materials, The Salisbury Poisonings and the hit Netflix comedy Sex Education, as Erin Wiley.
Off-screen, Anne-Marie struck up a romance with her Shameless co-star James McAvoy, who played her love interest Steve on the show.
They wed in 2006 and share one son, Brendan, but announced their shock split in 2016.
Jody Latham (Lip Gallagh er)
The loveable Lip was the second eldest child in the dysfunctional family.
He went on to land roles in EastEnders, Holby City, Casualty and Inspector George Gently.
But he left the acting world to start up his own beauty business, and is now the proud owner of an £18 million cosmetics empire.
“I live in a two-bed flat and drive a modest car. I’m pumping everything back into the company,” he told the Daily Mirror in 2020.
“It’s valued at £18million. We’ll see where we are in a couple of years. I’ve had money before but not in my hands long enough.”
James McAvoy (Steve McBride)
James, best known in Shameless for playing Fiona’s love interest Steve, has seen the most success following the show.
He hit superstardom after starring in the Oscar-nominated flick The Last King Of Scotland in 2006, and secured his status as a Hollywood star with subsequent leading man roles in Atonement, Wanted, X-Men: First Class - as well as the sequels X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix - It: Chapter II, and Glass.
He’s also carved out a successful stage career, and appeared alongside his ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff in the BBC’s His Dark Materials last year.
After splitting from his former Shameless co-star, James began dating American personal assistant Lisa Liberati in 2018, after the met on the set of Split while in the US.
James later revealed they had secretly married.
Tina Malone (Mimi Maguire)
The actress, from Liverpool, joined the show in 2007.
She had previously appeared on TV shows such as Dinner Ladies and Brookside.
Tina has gone on to star in prison drama Clink, as well as enjoying a stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2009 since the show.
She hit the headlines when she had a reported £50k makeover, including a tummy tuck and facelift, after she lost 12 stone.
The star had a gastric band fitted and went under the knife to complete her full-body makeover.
But her career hit the skids when she was sacked from a pantomime production of Sleeping Beauty in December 2018, after admitting to possession of cocaine.
She later insisted she had been set up.
In March 2019, Tina was then given an eight-month suspended sentence and fined £10,000 for sharing an alleged picture of Jon Venables, one of James Bulger's killers, on social media.
Rebecca Ryan (Debbie Gallagher)
Tearaway daughter Debbie was played by actress Rebecca, who has enjoyed a hugely successful career in TV since the show ended in 2013.
While Debbie ended up joining the army, Rebecca has starred in Casualty, Doctors, DCI Banks and Monroe, before joining BBC series Waterloo Road as Vicki MacDonald from 2009 to 2011.
Now, she’s crossed from one side of Manchester to the other, as she plays Lydia Chambers in Coronation Street.
She recently filmed her final scenes on the cobbles, as she dramatically quit the soap as he character confessed to trying to kill Adam Barlow.
Maxine Peake (Veronica Ball)
Veronica was a neighbour of the Gallaghers, and the Bolton-born actress has enjoyed a glittering career on screen ever since she left the show in 2007.
She’s starred in shows including Little Dorrit, Criminal Justice, Silk, and more recently, the critically-acclaimed BBC thriller The Rules of the Game.
The actress also played child killer Myra Hindley in the chilling ITV drama See No Evil: The Moors Murders, which aired in 2006.
Maxine has also appeared in dystopian Netflix project Black Mirror, Mike Leigh's Peterloo,, and The Theory of Everything, alongside Eddie Redmayne.
Rebecca Atkinson (Karen Maguire)
The 38-year-old actress played rebellious Karen Maguire on Shameless from 2004 to 2013, and her character shocked viewers by indulging in an affair with Frank.
After the show ended, Rebecca joined BBC Scotland soap opera River City, and has also appeared in Life on Mars, Holby City, Coronation Street and Doctors.
She also married one of her Shameless co-stars - Ben Batt, who played Joe Pritchard - and the couple share a son together.
