Rhona Goskirk got quite the surprise at the start of this week when her mum appeared in the village.
Emmerdale viewers were briefly introduced to Mary during Monday night's edition of the ITV soap, which aired in its new time slot for the first time.
Rhona was a bit distracted at the time of her mother's arrival as she was planning to pop the question to her partner, Marlon Dingle.

Last week, Marlon was angry with his other half after discovering she had been in contact with her ex-husband Pierce Harris' son, Marcus.
It came after Pierce sent Rhona a letter asking for her help in tracking down his son because he was dying from cancer after being put behind bars many years ago for the murder of Graham Foster after previously being locked up for raping Rhona.
But Rhona also knew that Pierce had died before Paddy Dingle saw it in the paper and told Marlon, leaving him more upset that Rhona hadn't confined in him.
After falling out, Rhona decided to plan a proposal which ended up going wrong as Marlon wasn't in the mood after being let down by a potential business offer.
So on Monday night, Rhona decided to just drop down to one knee and ask Marlon to marry her in middle of the village but was suddenly distracted by a loud noise, like that of a gun shot.
And that loud noise just so happened to be Mary driving up to their home and her car backfired leading to Rhona and Marlon jumping out of their skin.
But Rhona was even more surprised to see her mum - played by Louise Jameson - suddenly stood before her. And fans are likely to recognise her too.
Louise, 70, played Rosa Di Marco in EastEnders from 1998 to 2000 and roles such as Leela in Doctor Who, Dr Anne Reynolds in The Omega Factor, Blanche Simmons in Tenko and Susan Young in Bergerac have made the actress a familiar face on television.
And this also isn't Louise's first time in the Dales as she played Sharon Crossthwaite in the Yorkshire-based soap in 1973 meaning her return almost 50 years on is one for the soap history books.
Speaking when her casting was announced at the end of January, Louise said: "It feels like such a gift to be welcomed into the Emmerdale cast. Playing Zoe’s on-screen mum is the icing on the cake."
Talking about her character to press, the acclaimed actress said: "Were still moulding her. She’s a very push-pull kind of character.
"I think she probably suffers a little bit with narcissistic personality disorder. A lot of sentences start with ‘I.’ ‘I this, I that’ and things other people do she relates to herself, but she thinks she’s being very caring."
And when asked if Mary will be sticking around in the Dales, Louise said: "I've got all my toes and all my fingers crossed. I guess it just depends what the powers that be think. I would love to stay in the village for a long time, yes."
