Where in the UK temperatures are forecast to be hotter than Honolulu

  • Parts of the UK, particularly London and East Anglia, are forecast to experience temperatures up to 27C on Friday, potentially making it the warmest day of the year and hotter than Honolulu, Hawaii.
  • Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge attributed the warm conditions to humid air arriving from the south, bringing sunshine to the east and South East.
  • Despite the warmth, heavy rain and potential thunder are predicted for the central spine of the UK, including Scotland, the Pennines, and the Midlands, on Friday.
  • The warm spell is expected to be short-lived, with changeable weather forecast for the May Day bank holiday weekend, including showers across northern and western parts of the UK on Saturday.
  • Temperatures are predicted to cool significantly by Monday, returning to seasonal averages of around 11-12C in the north and 15-16C in the south, making it feel much fresher.
