Where in the UK is going to be hottest this bank holiday weekend?

  • The UK is set to experience a heatwave over the bank holiday weekend, with forecasters predicting a 40 per cent chance that temperatures in parts of southern England could reach 33C on Sunday.
  • If temperatures hit 33C, it would surpass the current May record of 32.8C, set in 1922, making it the warmest May day on record.
  • The UK Health Security Agency has issued heat health alerts for much of the Midlands, eastern England, and south-east England, warning of ‘minor impacts’ on health and social care services.
  • On Saturday, temperatures are expected to reach 28C in London, while parts of south east England will see highs of 27C.
  • Temperatures will continue to soar on Sunday and bank holiday Monday, reaching 33C in the capital and 30C in the Midlands.
