Where does the new contract between Panthers, Chuba Hubbard rank amongst NFL RBs?

The Carolina Panthers have sent a message—work hard, get rewarded. And on Thursday morning, Chuba Hubbard got rewarded.

Hubbard, as announced by the organization a few days ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the New York Giants, has landed himself a long-term contract extension. The agreement, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, is a four-year deal worth $33.2 million with a maximum value of $37.2 million and $15 million worth of new guaranteed money.

So, where does this new pact place Hubbard in the monetary ranks of his position?

If achieved, the maximum of $37.2 million would stand as the fifth-highest total value amongst running backs—behind only Green Bay’s Josh Jacobs ($48 million), Indianapolis’ Jonathan Taylor ($42 million), San Francisco’s Christian McCaffrey ($38 million) and Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley ($37.7 million). If he sticks to the $33.2 million, the total value would rank sixth—right above his teammate Miles Sanders ($25.4 million).

In terms of annual average value, Hubbard can hit up to $9.3 million—which would rank seventh. At worst, his $8.3 million per year would rank ninth in the current landscape.
