Where do the Jaguars land in power rankings after 4th straight loss?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are a bit of a disaster right now, to say the least.

After going 8-3 through the first three months of the season, the Jaguars haven’t won a game in the month of December. While the first two losses came down to the wire, Jacksonville was out-scored 43-0 for a stretch between games against the Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The offense can’t run the ball, can’t get on the same page, and can’t stop turning the ball over. The defense suddenly can’t tackle and can’t get off the field.

Jacksonville’s four-game skid has unsurprisingly dropped them team in experts’ power rankings, although maybe not as much as you’d think:

The 9-8 record they’re trending toward this year feels … far different than last year’s 9-8 crew, especially with battered QB Trevor Lawrence deeming the team’s recent showings “really embarrassing and frustrating.”

MVP: Josh Allen

Fellow linebacker Foye Okluokun hasn’t been bad (46 defensive splash plays), but Allen gets the nod because of his ability to get the quarterback to the ground. He is fifth in the league with 13 1/2 sacks. It’s his first double-digit sack season since his rookie year in 2019. He also has 55 tackles, 27 pressures, two forced fumbles and an interception this season.

They are a disaster right now. The offensive line is bad, Trevor Lawrence isn’t playing well and the defense isn’t good. And yet they can be a playoff team still.

Trevor Lawrence is dealing with a new injury, this one to his right shoulder. It makes evaluating Lawrence after Year 3 more difficult. But it’s also fair to say where he’s at is disappointing. He’s not a bust, but he’s not on an obvious path to stardom either. And, no, it’s not because he has a terrible supporting cast. It’s not the 2023 49ers cast but it’s fine. He just hasn’t broken out the way we expected, and it’s OK to admit that.

Via Jarrett Bailey:

The Jaguars have lost their last four games, have only scored 19 points over their last two games, and Trevor Lawrence has eight turnovers in the last three weeks. Outside of that, they’re in great shape.

Why anyone would rank the Jaguars in the top half of the league right now is beyond me. Maybe they’ll figure things out and return to form, but right now they’re just plain bad.

No. 1 team: San Francisco 49ers
