If you couldn't tell by the sunny weather spring has now arrived and that means the Easter school holidays is also creeping up on parents too.
This year Easter will fall on Sunday, April 17 but with Newcastle schools breaking up for the holidays on Friday April 8 and not returning again until Monday April 25, parents will be wondering how to entertain little ones over the break.
One sure way to get children playing outdoors and burning off their energy is to take them on a good old fashioned Easter Egg hunt. If you don't have a garden to hold your own, it's not a issue, as there's plenty of Easter themed hunts and trails springing up across the region next month.

Wallington, Morpeth
Little ones are bound to love this family-friendly trail in the grounds of the National Trust's picturesque Wallington site.
There's plenty of fun activities to do along the way, and after you've completed the trail you can enjoy a cheeky chocolate reward.
Complete the nature-inspired trail through the woods and enjoy your chocolate reward.
Prices are £3 per trail pack, including a trail activity sheet, pencil, paper bag and chocolate egg reward (or allergen free alternative reward).

Tynemouth Park, Tynemouth
Hop on over to Tynemouth Park from April 9 to take part in the Easter Egg half-term hunt.
The Easter bunny has hidden plenty of eggs (with the help of some special characters who will also be making an appearance).
Along with the 30 minute trail, there will be a meet and greet and photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny and his friends,
Guests will get a Easter themed activity bag to take home. Ice cream will also be available on the day.
The Easter egg hunt will be running from Saturday April 9 to Sunday 24 between 9.30am – 5pm at half hour intervals.

Cragside, Morpeth
Experience Spring at Cragside on the Easter activity trail.
Walk - or hop - around Tumbleton Lake searching for the activity markers as you explore the historic grounds of this stunning National Trust property.
Make sure to shake the trees, check underneath the shrubs and lift rocks to see what surprises you might find.

Souter Lighthouse, South Shields
Treat your little ones to a world of adventures at Souter Lighthouse this spring by taking them on the nature trail.
Starting at the National Trust van in the main car park, there's ten fun activities to take part in, and once you've completed the trail you can head back to claim a Rainforest Alliance chocolate egg (or allergen free alternative).
The trail will run from F riday 15 - Monday April 18 between 11am-4pm.
There is no need to book this trail.
Seaton Delaval Hall, Whitley Bay
Another National Trust run Easter event, visitors will have the opportunity to take a tour around the extravagant Seaton Delaval Hall grounds as part of charity's Easter adventures in nature trail, where children will receive a chocolate egg at the end.
The trail takes place between April 11 - 24 2022 from 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm.

Easter Eggs and Bunnies Glass Painting, Sunderland
If a Easter egg trail doesn't peak your little one's interest, this event held at Sunderland's National Glass Centre might be more appealing.
Children can paint and take away their own Easter Egg or Bunny to display it at home and celebrate spring all year round.
The event will run on Monday April 11 between 10am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm.
Children must be four years old and over and booking is essential.

Durham's famous open-air museum will be holding traditional Easter celebrations 1900s style.
They'll be some cracking Easter-themed activities around the museum for little one's to enjoy including egg jarping, egg decorating and egg rolling.
