Rangers standout Calvin Bassey is closing in on a £19m plus add-ons move to Ajax on the back of his eye-catching displays last season - and is poised to enter the history books
The 22-year-old built upon his breakthrough under Steven Gerrard before becoming a key man under the stewardship of Giovanni van Bronckhorst en route to the Europa League Final. His rousing finish to the season against Eintracht Frankfurt and Hearts underlined a player improving with every passing match.
It's no surprise he's on the verge of becoming Rangers' most expensive ever sale - he fits the profile top European clubs covet. He ticks the boxes in terms of age, big academy background (with Leicester), athleticism, speed and positional with his uncanny knack to play both at left back and in central defence.
