It's now been 20 years since Popstars: The Rivals aired on ITV and a cohort of new singers burst onto the noughties music scene.
On November 30, 2002, Girls Aloud were formed and the lives of Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts, were changed forever. The band went on to become one of the biggest pop acts in the country, landing a string of top 10 singles between 2002 and 2009, from No Good Advice to Something Kinda Ooh, The Promise and more.
Popstars: The Rivals came a year after Hear'Say earned instant chart stardom from Popstars and some 10,000 hopefuls were whittled down by judges Pete Waterman, Geri Halliwell (now Horner) and Louis Walsh, to form one boyband and one girlband.
