Where are nurses on strike this week? Search your hospital on interactive map

Tens of thousands of nurses will strike for the first time in a century on Thursday in a bitter dispute over pay.

For the first time in its 106-year history, members of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) voted to walk out over the government's 4.75% NHS pay rise, well below inflation.

Members in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will down tools from 8am to 8pm on either December 15, December 20 or both, depending where they work.

The Government is refusing to open pay talks with union s - despite an offer from RCN general secretary Pat Cullen to pause strike action if Health Secretary Steve Barclay agrees to proper negotiations.

She has previously accused him of “bullyboy” tactics and suggested there is a gender issue as the RCN membership is predominantly female.

"What I am saying is the Health Secretary can choose negotiation over picket lines," she told BBC's Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg.

"My door is open, I am offering conciliation (through the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) and we can start that from tomorrow morning. I won't dig in if he doesn't dig in."

But Foreign Secretary James Cleverly made it clear that the Government wasn't budging.

Labour's Wes Streeting branded their stance a "complete joke".

Because each NHS Trust is an individual workplace, strikes had to be voted for hospital-by-hospital.

That means not every hospital in England and Wales has nurses on strike this Thursday.

So volunteers at the website strikemap.co.uk have pulled together a complete list of all the workplaces that are going on strike.

You can use it to see where there might be disruption at your local hospital - or simply to join a picket line in solidarity.

The full map covers other walkouts in other industries, including the railways, paramedics and postal workers.

Co-founder of the map Henry Fowler said: "Over the last two years, as workers’ confidence has grown, alongside a cost of living crisis, we have seen our map grow, to now cover over 7,000 strikes till launch and with nearly 6,000 live strikes as of this month.

“We launched Strike Map with three clear aims; document the levels of action, encourage workers in struggle, and provide a place for solidarity with all workers involved in strike action."
