When will the sun die?

Planet Earth in space, bright glowing sun. Elements of this image furnished by NASA.

If you’ve ever wondered when the sun is going to die, there's no need to worry — our star has about 5 billion years of life left.

The sun is the engine that powers life on Earth, providing light, warmth, and the conditions necessary for our existence. But like all stars, it won’t last forever.
