Chiefs Schedule Breakdown: When Will KC Lose Its First Game?

They haven’t looked like the dominant force that we’ve become accustomed to, but the Kansas City Chiefs have started off the 2024 NFL season with an 8-0 record. And with nine games left on their schedule, the talk of a potential undefeated season has begun to circulate.

Will Patrick Mahomes and company lose a single game this season? And if so, when?

When Will The Chiefs Lose A Game?

Andy Reid’s team is accustomed to getting off to hot starts. But the Chiefs have always appeared to be susceptible to that mid-season let-down game where they don’t play up to their standards, ending winning streaks or undefeated runs.

That hasn’t happened so far this year. They’ve already been victorious in two of the toughest games that they’ll play when they defeated the Ravens and 49ers. They have wins against the Bengals, Falcons, and Chargers as well. Their point differential isn’t even the best in their own division, but they’re still three games up on Los Angeles after the first nine weeks of the season.

As far as their future opponents go, the Chiefs rank in the middle of the pack in the NFL when it comes to remaining strength of schedule. They have some softer games down the stretch including contests against the Panthers and Raiders, but there should be one game that is circled in big red ink on their calendars.

Only Underdogs For One Of Final Nine Games

On November 17th, the Chiefs will travel to Buffalo, New York in order to take on the rival Bills. It will be yet another chapter in the saga that is the matchup between the two sides, and could wind up being a deciding factor in who has home field advantage in the playoffs.

And according to the current outlook at the future betting lines for the rest of the season, it is the only game left on Kansas City’s schedule in which they will be listed as underdogs. They are 3.5-point or better favorite in each of the other eight games, each with a win probability of at least 62%.

The 1972 Miami Dolphins are famously the only team that finished an NFL season with an undefeated record. The 2007 Patriots went 16-0 in the regular season, but were defeated in the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs will play the Broncos this coming weekend, and are currently listed as 7.5-point favorites.
