When is Strictly on tonight? Semi-final to air in new Sunday slot after England defeat

Strictly Come Dancing stars are putting everything they've got into rehearsals as the Glitter Ball trophy is within their grasp.

But fans of the show have been left frustrated as the shows tried and tested BBC viewing formula — a double dose across Saturday and Sunday evenings — has been disrupted for the second week running due to the World Cup.

Hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly will be back this weekend be back for the semi-final - but the show will air on Sunday night instead of it's usual Saturday night slot.

The remaining contestants master two brand-new routines for the first time this series in a bid to win viewer votes, with Fleur & Vito, Helen & Gorka, Molly & Carlos, Hamza & Jowita, and Will & Nancy dancing for a place in the final.


Monday 12 December at 8.15pm.

The switch up is of course due to the World Cup with dozens of shows moved out to make way for England's clash against France on Saturday night.

Speaking about the schedule changes, the BBC had said in an earlier statement: "Strictly Come Dancing will continue to bring glitter, glamour and glorious dancing to homes across the nation throughout the 2022 FIFA World Cup."

Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: "I'm so mad that #Strictly is on next Sunday instead of Saturday". A second stated: "Bloody annoying that the football takes priority on the schedule. First it being on a Friday, now the main show on a Sunday, it’s messing with my week #Strictly".

Last week’s Quarter-Final Musicals Week Special aired on Friday night, with the results show airing on Saturday instead.

This week will see the final six couples compete for a spot in the Semi-Final, with all of them nailing their performances on the night

So when will will celebs take to the dance floor this weekend?

The first show will air on Sunday 11 December at 7.15pm , while the results show will take place on Monday 12 December at 8.15pm .

The contestants will perform TWO dances for the first time this series.

Last week saw Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima leave the competition in spite of a high scoring Cha Cha Cha.

Meanwhile predictions for potential show winners include Hamza and Jowita, with Betway putting the odds of him winning at 8/13.

The bookies puts Helen Skeleton in second place with 11/8. Will Mellor also has a bit of a chance at 20/1, while Molly Rainford is at 50/1 and Fleur East a distant 80/1.

This week's show will feature a special performance from Lewis Capaldi.

Strictly Come Dancing 2022’s grand final airs on Saturday, 17 December.
