When will it thunder today in Leeds? Exact time thunderstorm is forecast as sun changes to torrential rain

It's been a gorgeous weekend in Leeds and Yorkshire with sunny spells and temperatures soaring towards 30C. It's fair to say the UK is in the midst of a mini heatwave and the sun is showing no sign of disappearing with high temperatures forecast today in Leeds.

According to the Met Office, temperatures will peak at 29C but the hot and humid weather is set to trigger thunder and lightning. A warm night will see temperatures of 20C at midnight on Monday.

It will cool to just 17C at 6am - and from them on, temperatures are set to rise for the next few hours before the storm arrives. Up until midday, only sun is forecast.

At 5pm, thunderstorms are set to hit Leeds with a 60 per cent chance of rain. A small respite at 6pm where just cloudy weather is forecast, is followed by more stormy weather at 7pm.

It will then be mainly cloudy for the rest of the night, with temperatures still only lowering to 20C.
