When will it stop raining? Greater Manchester's forecast as weather is only going to get worse

Greater Manchester's wet and miserable start to the year does not seem to be going anywhere for the time being, with long spells of rain expected throughout the week. A yellow weather warning is in place in the region tomorrow (Tuesday January 10) and the Met Office has warned that as a result, 'flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely'.

The rain is also set to impact on bus and train services, as well as potentially affecting 'power supplies and other services'. Rain is set to be at its heaviest and most persistent over high ground, the Met Office says, with up to 80mm expected to accumulate over parts of Cumbria.

In Greater Manchester, blustery showers are predicted today, with a chance of hail or thunder. The showers will temporarily ease during the evening but persistent rain and strong winds will then move in from the west in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
