Long before its Netflix days, Top Boy was a Channel 4 show. However, with Netflix acquiring the show, they have rebranded the first two seasons of the drama as Top Boy: Summerhouse.

When was the original Top Boy Summerhouse series released?
The original Top Boy debuted on October 31, 2011 as Top Boy. The show was picked up by Channel 4 back in 2013 before Netflix acquired the drama in 2017 after singer Drake bought the rights to Top Boy.
After a couple of years break, Top Boy season 3 was released on September 13, 2019 and although it’s the third season Netflix has billed it as season 1. The next instalment will be called Top Boy 2 when it is released on Netflix this month.
Is it linked to the new Top Boy season on Netflix?
The chronological order is as follows: Top Boy: Summerhouse season 1, Top Boy: Summerhouse season 2, Top Boy season 1 and Top Boy season 2.
Although season 3 picks up where season 2 left off, Netflix went ahead and rebranded the series. Netflix has renamed the Channel 4 version of the show Summerhouse so fans can differentiate between the two - a brand new cast and crew are involved with the third installment.
