And the Irishman won't have to wait long to return to Govan after returning as Hoops boss. The champions cross the River Clyde on matchday four of the 2023/24 Scottish Premiership campaign with the Sky TV cameras showing the match on Sunday, September 3 (kick off 12 noon).
Celtic host their rivals at Parkhead on Saturday, December 30 in a move from the traditional Ne'erday Old Firm derby slot. And the final derby before the split is scheduled to take place at Ibrox on Saturday, April 6 - the penultimate fixture before the top flight breaks into two. Michael Beale will be hoping for a better record in the fixture than in his early days as Rangers boss as he failed to get the better of Celtic in four meetings before winning the fifth and final game 3-0 at Ibrox, albeit the Hoops had already wrapped up the title.
The Englishman was part of Steven Gerrard's coaching team when Rangers defeated Rodgers in that match back in December 2018 with Ryan Jack netting the only goal to end a miserable run against Celtic with Rodgers enjoying some emphatic wins, including a 5-1 hammering of Mark Warburton's Light Blues in his first taste of the world famous derby.
