When it will snow today as Met Office forecasts freezing day for Leeds on Thursday

Leeds is set to see wintry blasts on Thursday as snow and sleet is predicted for some parts wider Yorkshire.

A freezing cold start to the day as temperatures plummet across Leeds to -1C, they are predicted to rise to highs of 2C says the Met Office. That's cold.

The Met Office has also warned of frequent wintry showers which are likely to fall on frozen surfaces in places, leading to the formation of icy patches. These showers are likely to fall as snow on high ground with some parts of South Leeds expecting snow.

North Yorkshire and the Yorkshire coast are seeing the worst of the ice warnings and the coldest temperatures with some possible snow in high ground in North Yorkshire. Here's what the weather is forecast on Thursday, December 8, in Leeds.

Leeds will wake to sunshine and temperatures of -1C on Thursday, it will remain sunny across the city until the mid afternoon. Cloud will set in from around 2pm.

The Met Office predicts overcast for Leeds from 4pm, and it says it will sleet at 7pm - it will remain cloudy for the rest of the evening and into the night.

Some parts of South Leeds including Morley are expected to see heavy snow from 6pm until 8pm.

Temperatures will hit a high of 2C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Very cold, especially overnight with widespread frosts. Often sunny, however daytime temperatures remaining close to freezing in places. Showers, wintry at times, predominantly along coasts. Winds falling light.

The Met Office is warning people about potential slippery roads and paths across many parts of Yorkshire for the rest of this week. According to the Met Office, the warning extends across much of North and East Yorkshire.
