The World Snooker Championship 2024 is almost upon us, with the draw taking place today.
Ronnie O’Sullivan is the favourite once again as he eyes an eighth world title, having equalled Stephen Hendry’s modern era record two years ago when he beat Judd Trump in the final.
The 48-year-old fell short last year though, losing in the quarter-finals to eventual winner Luca Brecel, who saw off Mark Selby to complete a sensational run to his first title.
Selby, as ever at The Crucible, is still one of the favourites, while Mark Allen makes his latest bid to finally come out on top on the biggest stage of them all.
The 16 seeds for the tournament have been confirmed and they will each be drawn against a qualifier for the first round.
The likes of Stuart Bingham, Stephen Maguire and Jack Lisowski are among those to have got through qualifying to book their place in the main draw, though 2010 world champion Neil Robertson was stunned by Wales’ Jamie Jones on Wednesday night.
