'Thunderbolts' Disney Plus streaming date revealed — here's when you can watch it

L-R: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), John Walker (Wyatt Russell) and Red Guardian (David Harbour) stand in a street looking shocked in a scene from Marvel Studios "Thunderbolts*".

With "Thunderbolts*", Marvel might have gotten its groove back. Unlike "Captain America: Brave New World", Marvel's first feature of 2025, "Thunderbolts*" landed with a bang.

The movie hit theaters at the start of May and landed with Marvel fans and moviegoers alike. It also earned winning reactions from critics and regular audience members alike. Currently, it's an 88% critics rating and 93% on the Popcornmeter over on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you're waiting for a "Thunderbolts*" streaming date — either to plan a rewatch or to check it out for the first time — we have an official Disney Plus date. But if you don't want to wait, you can buy or rent "Thunderbolts*" digitally on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) storefronts right now.

Read on for all the latest details, including the "Thunderbolts*" streaming date for Disney Plus.

When is 'Thunderbolts' coming to streaming?

You can no longer watch "Thunderbolts*" on the big screen at your local cinema, so you'll need to buy or rent it digitally if you want to watch the Marvel movie

As of right now, you can buy or rent "Thunderbolts*" from PVOD streaming services like Amazon, Apple, Fandango or Google. Physical media fans can buy it now on Blu-ray as well.

As for where it will arrive on subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) services? "Thunderbolts*" will be released on Disney Plus on Aug. 27, 2025.

What is 'Thunderbolts*' about?

"Thunderbolts*" is similar to DC's "The Suicide Squad." It's a band of antiheroes working for the government. But unlike the DC band of misfits, these are largely familiar faces to the (relatively) casual comic book moviegoer. Florence Pugh is back as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan returns as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell reprises his role as John Walker, aka U.S. Agent, David Harbour is Red Guardian once again and Julia Louis-Dreyfus is back as CIA director Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. They're joined by slightly less familiar faces in Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster ("Black Widow") and Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost ("Ant-Man and the Wasp").

The major addition to the cast is Lewis Pullman, who is making his MCU debut as Robert "Bob" Reynolds. Bob, it's revealed in the movie's trailers, is secretly the powerful hero Sentry, but also his darker alter ego, the Void. He might be a threat that's too big for even the Avengers to combat, let alone this band of misfits known as the Thunderbolts.
