For coffee drinkers, each season is a reason to be excited. Summer is all about sweet, iced cups of joe, while autumn is marked by warming, aromatic options.
Picture this: Autumn has begun and you’re walking down a tree-lined street. People have started decorating their homes for Halloween, with carved pumpkins on their doorsteps. The cool breeze sweeps through your hair as you enjoy a warm cup of delicious coffee.
In your imagination, what coffee are you drinking?
It is quite likely that your brain was immediately drawn to the hyper-autumnal and warming pumpkin spice latte.
As a chill enters the air and the days start to shorten, cafés across the nation are getting ready to bring back the fan favourite.
Here is when you can expect the PSL back at your beloved high street chains, including Starbucks and Pret.
Starbucks
2023 will see Starbucks go all out with their Pumpkin Spice range as it marks the 20th anniversary of their popular PSL, that has become synonymous with autumn.
Aside from the classic Pumpkin Spice Latte, coffee aficionados can expect a Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino on the menus.
Starbucks has revealed that fans can expect to kickstart the PSL season on Thursday, September 7, when the new menu items will start to land in stores. However, those who are Starbucks Rewards members will have early access from Thursday, August 31.
If you would like a matching mug or reusable cup to go with your drink, the stores will also be selling pumpkin-decorated merch.
Greggs
Greggs has also elated java fanatics by revealing that their autumn hot drink line-up will be hitting branches nationwide from August 24.
Pumpkin Spice Lattes will be on the menu from £2.40, as well as their new Hazelnut Mocha and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate.
For those who love the PSL flavour but like their coffees iced, the chain will also offer a cold version of the beverage for £2.85 for the first time from select stores.
Ole & Steen
This year, the Danish bakery chain will offer PSLs, consisting of espresso shots mixed with pumpkin spice syrup and steamed milk with a whipped cream and cinnamon topping, for £3.95.
It will also sell the beloved beverage as an iced coffee with whipped cream for £3.95.
Both autumnal items will hit the menu on September 5.
Pret A Manger
The high-street chain is set to release its version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte across its stores on September 5.
The release of PSL will also coincide with Pret’s discount for its Club Pret customers doubling, meaning subscribers will get 20 per cent off everything sold in-store as well as five barista-made drinks per day, including PSLs.
