The Olympics closing ceremony takes place this evening after an unforgettable fortnight of action at Paris 2024.

Tonight’s event will celebrate the achievements of the athletes who have competed at a memorable Games, and feature performances from a range of superstar artists.

As with the opening ceremony last month, expect to see a vibrant showcase of French culture, blending modernity with tradition, featuring spectacular performances that highlight the spirit of Paris.

The Games’ creative director, Thomas Jolly, hasn't revealed much about the roster, other than the fact that the ceremony's theme is Records and that "world-renowned singers" would be performing.

Who is performing at the Olympic closing ceremony?

Phoenix & Air

The closing ceremony will feature performances by the French bands Phoenix and Air.

During a special concert held on July 17 at Paris's Charles de Gaulle Airport, Phoenix and Air, along with Étienne de Crécy and Izzy Lindqwister, helped bring in the Olympics.

The event served as both a pre-Olympic summer party and a celebration of the airport's 50th anniversary.

According to Variety, Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is scheduled to execute an aerial accomplishment tonight that will test even his most audacious missions from the Mission Impossible film series.

The movie star may appear during the part where Paris turns over control to Los Angeles, the next host city of the summer Olympics in 2028.

Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg

Also according to Variety, Billie EilishSnoop Dogg and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are expected to be featured in the Paris closing ceremony.

A combination of live and pre-recorded performances will be showcased by the three Los Angeles-based performers. Producer Ben Winston is working with French producers of the closing ceremony.

Winston is no stranger to live music events, as he has produced both the Grammy Awards and CBS's 2021 Adele: One Night Only special.

What else will the closing ceremony include?

In addition to the one-of-a-kind artistic segment, the closing ceremony will have more conventional components.There will be the athletes' parade, an acknowledgement of the 45,000 volunteers, the women's marathon medal ceremony, and the extinguishing of the Olympic flame.

It will be carried from Tuileries, where tens of thousands of spectators have seen the cauldron on display.There will also be an announcement of the conclusion of the Olympic Games by Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).And the Olympic flag will be passed from Anne Hidalgo to Karen Bass, the respective mayors of Paris and Los Angeles.

Who are the Team GB flag bearers for the closing ceremony?

Diver Tom Daley and rower Helen Glover carried the British flag down the River Seine during the opening ceremony.

At the Stade de France, Alex Yee and Bryony Page - gold medal winners in the men’s triathlon and women’s trampolining respectively - will do the honours for Team GB.
