Fortnite update patch notes - Fortnite OG Season 2 battle pass and loot pool revealed

Fortnite OG Season 2 is about to get underway with a brand new Battle Pass - (Epic Games)

Fortnite is back online after planned maintenance for its latest update saw the online game’s servers go dark for several hours.

The downtime started at 9am in the UK, with matchmaking disabled moments earlier, and ended at noon.

With the latest update now live, here’s what’s in store for players, including the best items in the new Fortnite OG battle pass.

What’s new in Fortnite OG Season 2?

Epic Games is locking Godzilla back in his cage and unleashing a brand new season of Fortnite OG as part of Fortnite’s latest major update.

To get players pumped, Epic has revealed OG season two’s overhauled map, complete with iconic locations from yesteryear. There’s Tilted Towers (which, as long-serving fans know, is also featured on Fortnite Reload and was first introduced in Chapter 1, Season 2), Shifty Shafts, Junk Junction, Snobby Shores and Haunted Hills.

Expect all the old-school spots to get a new lick of paint while remaining instantly recognisable. For many players, these locations were their go-to points during the early days of Fortnite, whether dropping in or during the end game.

As Epic previously revealed, each new update to Fortnite OG will be based on past seasons from Chapter 1, with the action taking place on the original Fortnite Island.

What’s in the Fortnite OG Season 2 Battle Pass?

Best of all, season two comes fully loaded with a brand new Battle Pass featuring 45 tiers of rewards, including skins, back blings, gliders and pickaxes.

Remember, the original Chapter 1, Season 2 marked the debut of the Battle Pass, the progression system that has since been adopted by numerous live service games.

In another throwback to that classic era of Fortnite, players can grab a bunch of old-school outfits, such as Sparkle Diva, Cuddle Team Specialist and Knight Conqueror each with their respective accessories and alternate designs.

Players have until the end of the latest season on March 25 to grab all the latest rewards - and can progress through the OG Pass by earning XP in any Fortnite game mode (in keeping with the recent changes made to Fortnite proper).

What’s in the Fortnite OG Season 2 loot pool?

Nine new items and weapons are dropping in the OG Season two loot pool (Epic Games)

A bunch of retro items are also returning throughout this season, with two available at launch.

They include:

Small Shield Potion (live now) - down this tonic for 25 shield until you reach 50

Multi-Surface Damage Trap (live now) - a spiky surprise can be placed on floors, ceiling or walls

Boogie Bomb - enemies can’t help but dance when this little orb goes off

Suppressed pistol - a stealthy sidearm for quick shoot-outs

Cozy Campfire - gradually recover up to 50 health using this campfire for respite

Chug Jug - it takes a bit of time to devour this barrel of blue health-restoring liquid, so make sure you keep moving or find a hiding spot

Minigun - while there’s no need to reload this bullet-spraying gun, it does have a cooldown period

Crossbow - hitting an enemy with a well-aimed arrow feels far more satisfying than catching them with a bullet

Impulse Grenade - troll or defeat enemies with this grenade that launches players back upon impact.

What’s new in Lego Fortnite and Battle Royale?

Godzilla is leaving Fortnite (Epic Games)

Beyond Fortnite OG, Epic will be vaulting Godzilla to mark the end of the Titan Takedown event.

While you won’t be able to transform into the mighty Kaiju for the time being, there is a chance he’s added to Fortnite Creative mode in the future, setting him up to return in other modes down the line.

Elsewhere, Fortnite’s Lego Brick Life mode is turning up the charm with its Valentine's 2025 update - also launching today.

Players can assist the local florist, Sunflower, in spreading love throughout Brick Bay by delivering flowers, love letters, and heart wands, earning Cupid's Surprises that may contain chocolicious home decor. New daily activities are also on the agenda:

The activities will kick off at 5pm Brick Bay time, with the game pinging your virtual phone with reminders.
