This year the UK will enjoy an extra bank holiday thanks to the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. The unprecedented anniversary, the first time a British monarch has reached a Platinum Jubilee on the throne, fell on Sunday, February 6, with celebrations set to take place over a four-day bank holiday weekend in June 2022.
This historic event will reflect on Her Majesty's reign with Buckingham Palace recently unveiling a full programme of events to mark it, including the Platinum Pudding Competition to find a dish to dedicate to the Queen's 70 years on the throne and the Queen's Green Canopy initiative, which will continue to plant new trees to present to her at the end of the year. There will also be a four-day bank holiday weekend in June, which will see the usual spring bank holiday in May moved and an additional bank holiday added on for the celebrations. You can find out how to maximise the 2022 bank holidays for more time off this year, here.
