Newcastle United are now just three games from a date at Wembley after booking their place in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
The Magpies beat AFC Bournemouth 1-0 on Tuesday night, thanks to an own goal from Adam Smith, to earn their spot in the last eight of the competition. They join the likes of Manchester United, Leicester City, Southampton and Wolves in the latter stages of the League Cup.
Big names such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are already out and there will be one more casualty when Manchester City take on Liverpool in the remaining round-of-16 game.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place upon the conclusion the Man City vs Liverpool game tonight, Thursday, December 22. The match is set to finish around 10pm, with the draw to follow.
The Carabao Cup quarter-final ties will take place on January 10-11, with the two-legged semi-finals scheduled for January 24/25 and January 31/February 1. The final will take place at Wembley on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
With Eddie Howe's side facing off against Sheffield Wednesday on January 7 in the FA Cup, the Magpies early 2023 games will represent a real test to Newcastle's squad. Newcastle will now play four games in 12 days, starting with Arsenal on January 3 and finishing with Fulham on January 15.
