When is Stranger Things Season 5 out and how can I watch?

The time is almost upon us. After a two year wait, the final season of Stranger Things will be dropping over the next couple of months, and we’ll be finding out the fate of our favourite gang of Hawkins kids.

There’s a lot of ground to cover. The season four finale ended with the villainous Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) opening up a portal to the Upside Down in the middle of the town, causing massive rifts to appear in the ground, and fires to engulf pretty much everything else.

Basically, it looked like the apocalypse, and things probably haven’t gotten much better this season. At least, not according to the trailer, which teased more Demogorgons, a US army presence and yet more challenges in wait for Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and her friends.

“I want to see Vecna’s heart on a platter,” Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) says at one point. Which kind of sets the tone for the entire season.

However, the schedule for when the episodes drop is a little more complicated. Here’s what you need to know:

When is it on?

The show is being released in three separate ‘volumes’, all of which will be dropping on Netflix at different times.

Volume One, which will comprise the first four episodes, will be dropping at 1am GMT on November 27.

Volume Two, which is the next three, will launch at 1am GMT on December 26 (think of the lucky Americans, who get to tune in on Christmas Day for this).

The finale will be dropping on New Year’s Day — starting off 2026 with a bang.

Is there a trailer?

There definitely is. A few, in fact, all of which seem to show the same thing. The stakes are getting higher, the Upside Down is leaking into the real world, and there are a lot of bullets spraying around.

The show has even dropped the first five minutes of the new season, which shows a de-aged Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) in the Upside Down when he was first sent there, all the way back in season one.

How can I watch?

It’s on Netflix — and will be debuting around the world at exactly the same time.

In the US, that’s at 5pm Pacific Time on November 26; in the UK, that’s 1am GMT on November 27. Set your watches, if you’re dedicated enough to stay up for it.
